MICHAEL: “I was making a small practice audio amplifier, and was in need of a 2.5 Ohm resistor. I didn’t
have one, and didn’t want to wait for an order to be fulfilled.If resistors are made of carbon, and variable resistors have a carbon raceway; then perhaps, I could make one. I wrapped each end of a segment of pencil lead with wire, soldered the wires in place, adjusting the distance between the wires until I got the value I needed. How’s that for a quick fix?”
