Eight Useful Android Apps for Electronics and Electrical Engineers

5) Resistor Color Codes

The ‘Resistor Color Codes’ is a simple to use app designed by Viktor Karabut for the engineers, especially for those who are in electrical and electronics field. This app doesn’t require any permission on your Android device, and this makes it even more easy to install and use. You can get the resistor value by entering the resistor’s color code.

This is the home screen of the app. Here you can see three categories for the resistor color codes; 4-Band, 5-Band, and 6-Band. You can choose the band category as per your requirement and can get the nearest value of E6 and E12 in the unit of Mega Ohm.

In the above picture, you can see the other categories of 5-band. The 6-band color codes are shown in the below picture. The 4-band category includes the resistor color codes for Violet, Green, Blue, and Red where the first two are first and second significant figures; Blue is the multiplier, and Red is tolerance. The 5-band category includes Violet, Green, Blue, Red, and Silver in which V, G, and B are significant figures, R is a multiplier and S is tolerance. The 6-band category includes Violet (first significant figure), Green (for second and third significant figure), Red (multiplier), Silver (tolerance), and Orange (temperature coefficient).

These all are the default color codes, but you can choose other resistor colors too if you want. Check the options in the below picture.

You can choose any of the above-shown colors to get the value of the resistor. This ‘Resistor Color Codes’ app is great for the electrical and electronics students and for those who are the beginners in the field of electrical engineering.
