Suspend in motion

Suspend in motion

Reader [Brien Schultz] didn't like his laptop suspending every time he closed the lid to move around the house or to a different work area, so he turned that feature off.

iBook wireless retrofit

iBook wireless retrofit

[squishy] sent in his iBook refit project. Normally a laptop ressurection wouldn't grab my attention, but the wireless card caught my eye. Because his ebay deal didn't come with an airport card, he refitted it with a Senao 200mW wireless card.

Forced air laptop cooling

Forced air laptop cooling

We've seen some exotic laptop cooling solutions before. This one caught my eye for one reason - I've got an e1705 myself. (Complete with chipping media button paint).

Old school libretto mods

Old school libretto mods

Somehow, [acidx] knew that I coveted a libretto for years. He sent in his writeup on modding his Libretto 50ct to be a bit more useful. The mods are pretty basic, he overclocked it to 133Mhz and added a ps/2 port.

Adding internal bluetooth to your tablet/laptop

Adding internal bluetooth to your tablet/laptop

This one reminds me of [sprite_tm]s keyboard light mod. [Jeff] modded a usb bluetooth module and mounted it internally on his tablet. He connected a small circuit to two the the stock buttons to buffer/de-bounce them to allow simultaneous pressing to activate/deactivate the module.

The Sony PEG-UX50 was an impressive package when it was released in 2003. It had a 480x320 screen, keyboard, convertible screen, built-in camera, WiFi and Bluetooth.

External laptop battery pack

External laptop battery pack

This little hack was sent in by [andrew], he built it specifically for the long flight from Australia to the US. The idea is simple, but I wouldn't have considered it given the cost of decent D Cells these days.

Ben Heck's Xbox 360 Laptop Mk II

Ben Heck's Xbox 360 Laptop Mk II

I've known this was coming for a while. [Ben]'s been working hard on this for a while. He's built his second Xbox 360 laptop. But this time he's putting up a three part How-To series on building it for engadget.

USB Bluetooth without sacrificing a port

Myriam a. k. a. [tnkgrl] decided that the the Averatec 1050 laptop was sorely in need of some Bluetooth and was tired of losing a port to a USB dongle.

Use a laptop LCD to extend your desktop display

Use a laptop LCD to extend your desktop display

I get an email asking for this almost monthly, and [PUNiSH3R]'s take on this covers everything pretty well. He uses some interesting tricks with WINE to get enough performance to play a DVD on the remote display.
